Skyrim Special Edition
A hi res (2k or 4k) retexture of the Witch Hunter armor from VIGILANT. A fancy re-imagining rather than an upscale of the original design, this is my personal take on the armor style.
It’s available in two versions – the original, clean leather texture, and a worn/damaged version. Since this is purely a retexture, unfortunately, you have to choose one or the other.
The VIGILANT mod is required.
This mod adds a small collection of fancy glowing swords inspired by the design of the “Vediant” sword from Black Desert Online.
- Craftable at a forge with the “Glass Smithing” perk
- 4 color variants
- Both 1h and 2h versions
- Can be improved
- 2k textures
- Classic Skyrim and Special Edition
It’s slightly over the top but very fancy and looks great in every screenshot. Every! Screenshot!
A brand new Nexus release, in collaboration with Irondusk33 (author of Spell Research, Religion, Missives, and like a million other awesome mods). To use his words, Terra Umbra is:
An incredible player home for master Alteration mages. New spells found on a corpse near Alftand allow you to raise a portion of the dwemer ruins, including one of the ruined towers. This tower can then be moved to any part of Skyrim, if you have the will to move it.
Basically, it’s pretty awesome.
Despite the game turning seven years old this year, and the Special Edition bringing in even more players to the scene, Skyrim modding is still alive and well. Here’s my personal “best of” list for 2018 mod releases!
A mod I originally started working on as a tumblr gift for reaching 300 followers, but ended up as a “almost 400 followers – eh maybe just a general release” gift. A small mod that adds two unique necklaces to the game, a vial and a glowing crystal.
After extensive testing and some light patch-creating, Harborside is available for download on the Nexus! See below for mod info and download link.
A small mod I created for fun, but ended up looking pretty awesome. This replaces either Masser (Nirn’s larger moon) or Secunda (the smaller moon) with artwork of Argus being chewed up by fel energy. nomnomnom
I created this mostly from curiosity to see if I could, but I really liked the end result so thought I’d share. More images in the slideshow above or on tumblr. Download below!
Quick info:
- Supports both male and female
- Light armor
- Craftable at a forge with Elven smithing perk or add via console with “help Vael”
Sometimes traveling Skyrim by yourself can be lonely, but not every character would welcome human companionship – or maybe you don’t want to deal with the other aspects of the follower system like managing inventory and equipment. Maybe your character (or you!) is an animal lover. And sometimes you just need a furry friend because not having one at your side feels wrong. In this list, I’ve compiled a collection of the best animal and creature follower mods for both special edition and legendary (classic) edition I could find, taking into account variety and functionality.
Working on a new mod? You’ll surely find some of these free to use Skyrim mod resources invaluable! Dozens of members from the Skyrim community generously allow their work to be used by others. These often include new meshes, textures, scripts, or just objects to make the mod creation process easier, such as static clutter items.
All of the mods in this list specify that their assets may be used by others, but be sure to read the individual descriptions/permissions in case the author has included any particular requirements.
I’ve attempted to break them down into logical categories – or in some cases, sub-categories as well – in order to be more easily browsed or searched through. For others, I’ve also included short descriptions or images to help give an idea of the content of the resource, when it’s not immediately obvious from the name. Due to the sheer number of these mods, it can still be a daunting task to explore, but hopefully this will make your modding adventure slightly more convenient!
